Located in northeast India, the Assam Valley lies 120 miles east of Darjeeling
on the border with China, Burma and Bangladesh. There are some absolutely
outstanding teas grown in this region, which produces more than 1,500,000 pounds
of tea annually.
Assam tea has a first and second flush. The first flush
has a rich, hearty, full-bodied flavor and aroma. The second flush produces the
famous "tippy" teas (black tea with golden tips). The golden tip lessens the
astringent characteristics of the tea. Assam teas can have a malty aroma, with a
slight sweet, honey fragrance. They are excellent morning teas, which can often
be enhanced with the addition of milk.

Budlabeta
/
BPS-CTC "(Assam)"
This Budlabeta CTC (cut, tear & curl) is one of the heartiest, most robust
teas available. The curled deep brown leaves brew a rich, malty cup,
with a slight chocolatey note and a natural sweetness. There is
absolutely no bitter after taste. A touch of milk seems to enhance the
flavours of this robust tea. If you’re looking for an excellent, full
bodied tea to start your day, this is the one. There are no
disappointments with this superior Amgooeie CTC. Great with a splash of
milk and/or sugar. |

Dejoo-0611
/
STGFOP "(Assam)"
A full-bodied, malty Assam
with a definite fruity, sweet note and a fragrance similar to sweet
autumn apples. The Dejoo Estate is among the top 10 estates in the Assam
growing region. The origin of the “Dejoo” name is a mystery. It may have
originated from a Nepal word meaning “brother”. This Dejoo tea is full
of golden tips and produces a rich red liquor. The flavour is very
smooth and sweet on its own, but strong enough to take the addition of
milk and/or sugar. An excellent morning or afternoon tea. |

Nestling
in the foothills of the Himalayan range, Darjeeling grows this exclusive tea at
altitudes ranging from 600 to 2,000 meters. Unlike other tea regions, which are
lower in altitude and closer to the equator, Darjeeling has a very limited
harvest period. The cool and moist climate, the soil, the rainfall and the
sloping terrain all combine to give Darjeeling its unique "Muscatel" flavor and
exquisite bouquet. Over the years this fine, delicately flavored tea has
acquired the reputation as being the "Champagne of Teas."

Margaret’s Hope
FTGFOP 1
(Chinese
Hybrid tea plants): A superb second flush Margaret’s Hope with lots
of golden tips and a hint of green. The bouquet in the cup is sweet and
the colour is a rich, clear red. The liquor flavour is complex, ranging
from “nutty” to fruity sweet or characteristic “muscatel”, with a
pleasant, astringent after note. As the tea cools the sweetness becomes
the predominate note. This tea is both smooth and bold. It’s excellent
on its own and can also stand up to milk and/or sugar. A great tea to
serve with desserts. If you enjoy Darjeeling, this Margaret’s Hope is
one not to be missed. |

The teas of Sri Lanka, the Paradise Island in the Indian
Ocean, southwest of India, are still called after their colonial name, Ceylon.
The temperate climate and cool mountainous regions are perfect growing
conditions for tea, which accounts for why Sri Lanka produces 25% of the world's
production of tea. This island produces 600,000 tons of tea annually.
Ceylon teas are divided into high, medium and low grown.
The high grown are of the very best quality and when coupled with specific times
of year they can be outstanding.
